Code Of Conduct & Refund Policy

Halton Hills Pickleball Association – Code of Conduct

A) Treat all players with courtesy and respect.

  • Wear clothing that is suitable for playing Pickleball. Do not wear clothing with lettering or logos that could be considered offensive.
  • When entering the playing area, avoid disrupting games in progress.
  • Avoid the use of profanity.
  • Do not make inappropriate personal comments to or about other players.
  • Call “ball” when the ball from your game enters or goes behind an adjacent court that is occupied, then wait for it to be returned.
  • Before serving, ensure all players are ready to play.

B) Treat the facility and equipment with respect.

  • Wear clean, non-marking court shoes that will not mark the floor.
  • Observe and comply with the rules of the building.
  • Help to keep the courts and building as clean as possible.
  • Treat the balls, nets and paddles carefully, they are all susceptible to damage.

C) Know and follow the rules of the game.

  • A binder of the rules is available for consultation.
  • Players are expected to make all of the line calls on their side of the court.
  • If a team cannot decide on a line call then the benefit always goes to the opponent and the ball shall be declared “in”.
  • Players cannot claim a “let” (replay) because the ball was not seen. An opponent’s opinion can be requested, and if the opponent says the ball was “in” or the opponent could not see it, the ball must be declared “in”.
  • Spectators should not be consulted on any line calls.

D) Play fairly and encourage others to do so.

  • Competition is one of the joys of sport but should never be an obstacle to having fun.
  • Rotate on and off the court in such a manner that everyone has equal playing time.
  • Announce the score loudly and clearly before serving so that it is known to everyone.
  • While it is part of the game, players should not intentionally hit their opponent with the ball.
  • Do not take advantage of an opposing team whose skill level may be lower by running the score up. One-sided games can be used to practice different shots.
  • Do not celebrate points excessively or belittle the opposition when they miss a shot.

Repeated violations of the code of conduct can result in suspension from HHPA activities and/or a revoke of membership.
Any violation will be promptly addressed by any Board member

Halton Hills Pickleball Association – Refund Policy

The HHPA has fixed costs that it must pay for our members to be allowed to play during the times that we contract from the Town of Halton Hills, the Halton Hills Christian School, the Town of Milton, the Halton District School Board and the Halton District Catholic School Board and any other location HHPA schedules Pickleball play. For example, these organizations require every renter to have directors and liability insurance, with them specifically named in the policy as beneficiaries, in place before they will rent space to them.

In addition, the municipalities require rental fees to be paid before each playing session begins. This applies to both indoor and outdoor play.  The Association sets and collects the membership and playing fees to allow us to pay these expenses before play begins. In order to meet this requirement, the Association is not able to provide refunds to members once they have paid their membership or indoor playing fee.

Should a refund be issued under exceptional circumstances for indoor play a $25 administration fee will be applied.

Members can transfer any part of their playing time to another HHPA member, on the following terms:

  1. The transferee must be a member of the HHPA in good standing and the transfer must be approved by the Board of Directors.
  2. The transferee cannot begin to play in the original member’s place until after the approval has been given.

Any payment from the transferee to the original member is negotiated entirely between themselves and does not involve the HHPA Board.
